Philomena Oboh, DDS
Chaplain

Dr. Oboh’s 30 years of experience in the Dental Profession has been based on a combination of treatment of adults and children in the United States and abroad. Having worked in corporate dentistry, the public sector as well as in private practice, her clinical experiences have brought her full circle.

Dr. Oboh has been the proprietor of Global Dental, a Private Dental Practice in Van Nuys for the past 20 years. She completed a General Practice Residency Program at the beginning of her career and more recently completed a mini residency in Orthodontic Treatment for General Dentists. She has added orthodontic care to the cadre of services provided in her office. Dr. Oboh received special Pediatric Dental Care Training through the California Dental Association Pediatric Oral Health Access Program after which she implemented several programs for children in her practice including the Los Angeles Pediatric Oral Health Access Program. Adding Implant Dentistry and a Board Eligible Periodontist to her staff have heightened the level of care offered to her patients. This has brought her dental office to the forefront of patient care. Dr. Oboh has been nominated as one of “America’s Best Dentists” for the past 5 years as well as “Who’s Who Among Dental Professionals”.

Working as a dental provider for the California Department of Rehabilitation, Dr. Oboh has had the opportunity to treat patients in her private practice that would not normally be seen in a private practice. Understanding that the lack of teeth is one of the biggest barriers to obtaining employment, Dr. Oboh goes the extra mile for these patients to bring them back to good oral health while simultaneously improving their esthetics, and thus prepares them to re-enter the work force.

Early in her career, Dr. Oboh served the community at the Los Angeles County Hubert Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center as a staff dentist caring for thousands of underserved patients. As a part of her outreach to the community, Dr. Oboh has participated in programs bringing oral health education to the Boys and Girls Club of the San Fernando Valley, families in the Pacoima Community as well as the Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Futures Program.

Dr. Oboh serves as the Chaplain of the Angel City Dental Society and she is the Community Outreach Chairperson of the San Fernando Dental Society. She is a member of the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
